The Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Epidemiology Center (GLITEC) is thrilled to host the 4th Annual Great Lakes Area Opioid Conference: Journeying Toward Wellness in Prior Lake, MN. This gathering is your opportunity to connect, learn, and collaborate with colleagues, community members, and professionals passionate about building wellness and resilience toward addressing the opioid crisis and other substance use concerns.

Who should attend?
This conference is geared toward Tribal leaders, Tribal public health professionals, health care providers, prevention professionals, social workers, community health workers, Tribal Elders, traditional and spiritual leaders, faith-based organizations, and others living and working within Indian Country who support sobriety, health, and wellness.
Conference
The Opioid Conference is focused on increasing knowledge around opioids and other substance use, mental health, and other related topics. It will also support collaborative response efforts promoting regional health and wellness. This conference aims to address opioid use, substance use, and interrelated health concerns, including suicide, through the following objectives:
- To provide an integrative experience within the mind, body, and spirit in an environment that offers hope, encouragement, and a positive foundation for American Indian/Alaska Native community action.
- To provide a framework for American Indian/Alaska Native communities to examine historical trauma and its effect on mental disorders, substance use disorders, suicide, and the promotion of mental health.
- Reinforce cultural continuity with families who live on Tribal reservations or in urban or rural areas.
- Increase protective factors linked to the healthy and safe development of American Indian/Alaska Native children and their families.
- To identify and enhance paths that support innovative prevention, treatment, and recovery strategies promoting wellness.
- To create a collaborative space to share ideas and strengthen partnerships to address the region’s public health concerns.
Pre-Conference Trainings
In conjunction with the conference, GLITEC will be hosting pre-conference trainings that are set to take place on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. Additional information will follow.
