It will also support collaborative response efforts promoting regional health and wellness. This conference aims to address opioid use, substance use, and interrelated health concerns, including suicide, through the following objectives:

  1. To provide an integrative experience within the mind, body, and spirit in an environment that offers hope, encouragement, and a positive foundation for American Indian/Alaska Native community action.
  2. To provide a space for American Indian/Alaska Native communities to examine historical trauma and its effect on mental disorders, substance use disorders, suicide, and the promotion of mental health.
  3. Increase protective factors linked to the healthy and safe development of American Indian/Alaska Native children and their families.
  4. To identify and enhance paths that support innovative prevention, treatment, and recovery strategies promoting wellness.
  5. To create a collaborative space to share ideas and strengthen partnerships to address the region’s public health concerns.
