Emergency Preparedness Specialist

The Emergency Preparedness Specialist, under general direction and supervision from the GLITEC Director, coordinates plan, organize, and administer Public Health Emergency Preparedness activities, including pre-emergency planning, emergency response activities, and post-emergency functions. In addition, this position coordinates and directs the development of presentations to tribal Leadership, the public, schools, community groups and organizations relevant to Tribal health preparedness planning and response for the Bemidji Area Tribes served by GLITEC, Serves on Incident Management Teams during disasters/emergencies as needed. Epidemiologist I or II

The Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Epidemiology Center is seeking an Epidemiologist I or II, dependent upon experience and qualifications.  The Epidemiologist I will serve as an entry-level epidemiologist responsible for carrying out a range of investigative and analytical epidemiologic activities related to the surveillance, detection and prevention of diseases and injuries. Working as a team member, under the direction of the Senior Epidemiologist, conduct routine epidemiologic functions, technical assistance to Tribal Nations, and provide training on the basic principles of epidemiology as well as other important public health matters. Attendance as scheduled is an essential function of this position. Frequent travel is required to meet the needs of the position.

The Epidemiologist II will serve as an intermediate level epidemiologist responsible for carrying out a broad and complex range of investigative and analytical epidemiologic activities related to the surveillance, detection and prevention of diseases and injuries. Working independently or as an experienced team member, under the direction of the Senior Epidemiologist, provide expertise for specific programs or complex analysis and technical assistance to Tribal Nations. May provide technical leadership, guidance, and coordination of work for Epidemiologist I or other program specific staff. Attendance as scheduled is an essential function of this position. Frequent travel is required to meet the needs of the position.

Public Health Specialist and SPHS

Position Summary:

The Public Health Specialist provides technical assistance, expertise, and consultation on issues of public health, health communication, health intervention strategies, and carry out research and other projects to identify, define, and prevent disability, morbidity, and mortality associated with disease, injury, and related health issues. Working as a team member, under the direction of a Senior Epidemiologist/Program Manager, the Public Health Specialist provides assistance and support to Tribal Nations on important public health matters. Attendance as scheduled is an essential function of this position. Frequent travel is required to meet the needs of the position.

The Senior Public Health Specialist manages communication channels between all project(s) partners as well as any advisory groups and committees; serves as primary contact for internal and external project leads on assigned project(s); creates health communication strategies and products, supports program manager in ensuring compliance with funding requirements, if appropriate, such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is met; works closely with program manager in the implementation of project(s) scope and objectives as well as in developing project(s) budgets and tracks project spending as appropriate; assists in the development of detailed work plans, which include clear milestones and assignment of project(s) task responsibilities and schedules, as well as the collection, analysis and reporting of project data and reports findings and outcomes as requested; conducts project(s) meetings and is responsible for project tracking and monitoring; conducts and provides direction in program or project evaluation.

This is a full-time opportunity working Mon-Fri 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM 40 hours per week with a work location in Lac Du Flambeau, WI. Limited travel may be required. This position has a starting rate of $40,000 – $50,000 with benefits including Annual/Personal Leave, Holiday Pay, Health, Dental, Life & AD&D, STD and LTD Insurance, FSA and 401(k) Retirement Plan.
